Hey there, kitties. I have a list of what we should expect from CoH in the final weeks of gameplay:

Summer Blockbuster - October 5 - October 8
Double XP - October 18 - October 22
Halloween Event - October 26 - October 29
Winter Event - November 9 - November 12
Rikti Invasion - November 23 - November 30

Live Server Shutdown - November 30 12:00 AM PDT

Info is from Hit Streak, as posted here:

I never got to do the Blockbuster stuff, and I'm busy those days. Darn! I wish they'd kept that one longer and let Double XP run for just the weekend. XP's easy. Oh well.

How many Pocket D instances do you think there will be on 30 Nov at midnight? =)

No telling. I plan to hold vigil in Atlas Park that night, myself.

Also, this list was posted not too long after the original list went up; I've since heard that the November 30 shutdown is at 11:59 PM on the 30th, rather than at midnight on the 30th (I hope that makes sense), giving us the entire day of the 30th to tie up loose ends.

The sunset of City of Heroes has come and gone, and many of us are no doubt sitting around in shock wondering what we are going to do now that our home has been so rudely yanked out from under us. Since the announcement of the closure, my mind kept coming back to Prospero's valediction from William Shakespeare's "The Tempest", Act 4, Scene 1:

Our revels now are ended. These our actors,
As I foretold you, were all spirits and
Are melted into air, into thin air:
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

Paragon Studios, and Cryptic before them, gave us the vehicle to create such glorious dreams... which only made the shutdown harder to take. Most of my heroes returned to Atlas Park where they began their defense of Paragon City; Zabastovka Molniy, my member of the Legion of Catgirls, I took to the 'Matrix room' in Peregrine Island under the Arena -- a location worthy of being an easter egg, accessible by taking advantage of geometry holes to escape the limits of the zone, go over the edge of the map, then returning along the 'bottom' of the zone far under the map to the location of the Arena and typing '/stuck' to be ported into the room:

For myself, I took Pakfront, an AR/EM Blaster that was the first character I created, on May 8, 2004, and joined the heroes assembling in the Rikti War Zone to participate in one final Rikti Mothership raid, timed so that we would be on the mothership fighting against the invaders of Paragon City when the servers shut down -- refusing to let the death of the game stop us from our self-appointed role as defenders of the city.

You've had several good references to help describe this, but this latest may be the best of all. Very apropos. I wonder how he knew?

I thought the fight in RWZ was a good idea; I was in the league with you in RWZ3, on the first character I ever created. I fought the Rikti until the end.
